Mauna Loa 

Mauna Loa is one of five volcanoes that form the Island of Hawaii in the U.S. state of Hawaiʻi in the Pacific Ocean.

Mauna Loa Crater

Crater measures 6 by 2.5 km (2.8 by 1.6 mi), including the summit collapse pits, and is elongated in a northeast-southwest orientation. 

Mauna Loa/Last eruption 

On 15th April, 1984, there was an eruption of lava near Hilo in Hawaii. The flow of this lava went up to 6 miles (10 km) from the sources.

Mauna Lao Total Eruptions

According to the USGS, Mauna Lao which covers half the island of Hawaii, has erupted 33 times since 1843.

Eruption Began

Mauna Loa eruption started at 11:30 p.m., local time on Sunday (0930 GMT Monday). Lava continued to spew from a volcano in Hawaii.

Early Signs 

Hawaii's Mauna Loa has been on 'state of heightened unrest' for the past few months and was detected to have experienced dozens of earthquakes in October.

Advisory and Alert!

The volcano alert level was upgraded from an “advisory” to a “warning”. No threat to nearby communities, and no evacuation orders yet, the agency tweeted.
